About the Colts Neck Memorial Garden
Colts Neck is a small town, and many residents are professionals who commute into New York City’s financial district. During the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, five Colts Neck residents died. The Colts Neck Memorial Garden was designed and built in the municipal center by sculptor Jim Gary, a Colts Neck native, to commemorate those who lost their lives from the community. The memorial garden features five benches, each bearing a nameplate for a Colts Neck victim:
- John F. Casazza
- Dennis M. Cook
- Paul James Furmato
- James P. Ladley
- John Joseph Murray
Jim Gary also created a sculpture of metal and stained glass dedicated to their memory. When the memorial was dedicated, he also gifted a small sculpture to each of the victims’ families.
